Polaris mobile phone robot by KDDI iida --

According to Flower Robotics, the Polaris system — which was unveiled in Tokyo today — is designed to learn the user’s lifestyle by collecting data, analyzing behavior, and identifying trends. The robot keeps a database of information accumulated through the handset, such as the user’s daily travel and walking habits, calls and email messages sent and received, and online transactions. Using this data, Polaris learns to predict the user’s behavior and offer relevant advice and information.

Wall E meets R2 ROBOT

Robot design enthusiasts can bring into use the last possible doodad they have lying in their backpack and then when they get on with it, even a crazy name appeals sensible to them. Loki for instance in this case is the name of a DIY robot inspired by the Norse God of mischief. We are yet to figure out the notoriety of this Bot but, what we can reveal is the fact that it uses a laptop as a brain and as a display screen on its chest.

it’s a pillow! nah! it’s a floor-wiping robot

Move over, Roomba. Make way for Fukitorimushi, an autonomous floor-cleaning robot that crawls like an inchworm and uses a super-absorbent nanofiber cloth to wipe up microscopic dust and residue that ordinary vacuums leave behind. Unveiled at the recent Tokyo Fiber Senseware exposition in Milan, Fukitorimushi (lit. “wipe-up bug”) is designed by Panasonic and incorporates nanofiber technology developed by textile maker Teijin, Ltd.

Robo-Q by Takara Tomy in DA House! Video and Micro Test

Here’s a micro test of a micro product, the Takara Tomy Robo-Q. Just 3.4 cm tall (1.3″), this little robot is a tiny toy, the world’s smallest remote controlled walking robot.

Takara Tomy made things cool with the RoBo-Q, you can choose between an R/C Mode, where you have full control of your Robo-Q, or an Auto Mode.

With sensors placed on each shoulder, the RoBo-Q can walk and detect obstacles. Even if Auto Mode is far from perfect, you can have a lot of fun with friends if you build a maze and run several robots at the same time… a bit like a geeky horse race!
