Hollywood steals from asia

sassygirl

There are countless movies that hollywood is now taking from asia and not being clear to the american audience how UNORIGINAL the movie is!

(quick ranting here – i personally feel the media viewing within one’s country reflects their cultural values and desire and interest, which translate to our inventive energy! Think about all the great classic movies hollywood created when the country was productive and not being lazy.)

the above picture is one of the latest remake from a korean 2001 my sassy girl to a 2008 american my sassy girl. To be honest and i never watched the american version (explain later) the girl could pull it off but the male lead is a No-No. He can never be as good or better than the korean male lead – Cha Tae Hyun below is the vid of the full length video from veoh. i suggest clicking on the picture above to get to veoh and watch it there or download it.

Back to the generalness of asian movies to hollywood– the biggest one is The Departed. They literally took the Hong Kong (HK) movie Infernal Affair movie and swept the oscar floor with it. Of course the worst news was that they named the wrong country who should be credited, i think it was japan. but beside the point, what happen here in america? Can we not make our own videos as good?

departed

Click on the pic to go to youtube for the clip by clip of infernal affairs. I have to admit that the departed was very well done and executed, but i think there should be some respect for what HK pulled off too.

And another film. Shall we dance. the pic is link to the 1996 trailer of the Japanese movie.

Of course there are several more movies from asia secretly into hollywood, but the one that got me to write the blog is Old Boy. A korean movie about vengence and Hollywood is remaking it. I seriously don’t know how they will pull it off because the plot line is soo twisted and screw up that the american audience will not stand for it (the politically correctness people out there). And it is not a happy ending, just like the infernal affairs that was not a happy ending like the departed (it is correct that the departed did not end well, but infernal affairs will make you more surprise.) Back to old boy, Will Smith will be the main star, i like the actor, but he is too young for the part AND there are better actors that can do that level of performance, so that is telling me hollywood changed the plotline and twist of the movie.

From an article –

–Apparently Spielberg wasn’t acquiring the rights to the film Oldboy, he was acquiring the rights to the original source material of the graphic novel ‘Oldboy.’ I guess the next question would be – what does this mean? This means that fans can rest a bit easier knowing that no one is trying to make a better Oldboy for an American audience. This means that Spielberg is free to truly adapt the source material and not try and copycat the brilliance of Park’s masterpiece. This also means that it will likely be an entirely different film, however, but the graphic novel is still very close to Park’s movie. So stay tuned as more details come in.–

so enough said and it is my longest blog since who knows when… the vid below is the old boy movie on veoh. the pic above is linked to the video.

Improving Battery Power

straight from the article

South Korean researchers have developed a nano-structure that could spike the power of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which are increasingly used in electronic devices and cars–

A team of scientists led by Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)’s Song Hyun-joon said they developed a nano-structured material using copper oxide (CuO), which could produce lithium-ion batteries with some 50 percent more capacity than conventional products.–

The KAIST team produced three copper oxide nanostructures in hexagon, ball and sea urchin shapes. When used as materials for cathodes, the lithium-ion batteries using the urchin-shaped nanostructures showed a full-discharge capacity of 560 milliampere-hours (mAh), compared to 372 mAh when using graphite cathodes.–

Laser Graffiti

So I was doing research for an “inspirator” at work. I will post the PPT later on, when i finish, it is a short quick commentary that graffiti influences art/design. Well, but back in the 90s everyone wanted to ban graffiti! And now spray cans are super retardly expensive that graffiti migrated to other areas like clothing, shoes, skateboards, etc, and digitally too.

You wont understand it unless you watch the videos! They tag the whole building, and it is an interactive experience too.

So…

check the website, it is a must, and they have tons of videos to watch too. LINK
