Robo-Q by Takara Tomy in DA House! Video and Micro Test

Here’s a micro test of a micro product, the Takara Tomy Robo-Q. Just 3.4 cm tall (1.3″), this little robot is a tiny toy, the world’s smallest remote controlled walking robot.

Takara Tomy made things cool with the RoBo-Q, you can choose between an R/C Mode, where you have full control of your Robo-Q, or an Auto Mode.

With sensors placed on each shoulder, the RoBo-Q can walk and detect obstacles. Even if Auto Mode is far from perfect, you can have a lot of fun with friends if you build a maze and run several robots at the same time… a bit like a geeky horse race!

looking flexible…

ohhhhh. flexible OLED lighting…..

“AGFA-Gevaert NV and IMEC of Belgium, and Holst Centre, Philips Research and TNO of the Netherlands announced that they have prototyped a 12 x 12cm flexible OLED lighting panel by using highly-conductive transparent resin electrodes in place of ITO (indium tin oxide).

So far, it has been difficult to secure enough electrical conductivity of ITO in a low-temperature process. The new transparent resin has a high conductivity and is suited for coating method. Therefore, it is relatively easy to use the resin in a printing process. For the development, the companies received support from “Fast2Light,” the European Union’s project aimed at manufacturing flexible OLED lamps by a printing process.”

Audrey!!!! – 80s media…

so…if you grew up in the 80s you would have seen the musical movie the little shop of horrors! if you didn’t, what did you do in that decade?  I love them, now i am waiting for some smurfs love!

From motorbot.net -

“…so i’ve had a mild obsession with audrey 2, the plant monster from the little shop of horrors. she’s shown up several times in my work, and as she evolves, i only want to make more of her.

her first appearance was as a 3inch dunny, which was actually the third custom to i ever made. i was very happy with her, and there was brief, very brief, talk of having her made into a production piece. i held onto her forever but just recently sold her off to a collector…”

Missing the EPIC 2015

Earlier i posted the “Did you know?” video and honestly i felt bad not posting the EPIC 2015, cause back in the day of 2004 when style – technology – internet was just starting to mix together, All of us college geeks were like “hey have you heard of googlezon?”

I personally felt this video was a turning point in my decision for what type of designer i wish to become – cause at risd i did everything full speed and then went “okay? that was not challenging enough…” And post risd i jump into medical products – talk about complications….rules, ISO, FDA, human factors, etc, I am like —”okay, cool now that is what i am talking about”

enjoy.
