nex – us?

okay. I will admit i like where google is heading but also don’t like it. google is a double edge sword which consumers need to fully and completely become aware how powerful they can become in terms of the information world.

And i do realize that i really don’t keep up with my postings… why? cause i am a lunatic at my job. I love it but also it loves me… too much.

CMF! CMF! what the heck? in the little bit of the video i was utterly annoyed to say that CMF is everything to the phone – color, material, finish.

I will say that HTC did give this phone correctly,  in terms of the material and finish. The color? well it is interesting. In the daylight it is purple and the indoor it is tan-brown. I do agree that it is very natural like a ROCK! literally the phone is a river rock. I will agree there are tons of colorful rocks out there.

finish – yes the finish is wonderful but what else is new? it does not surprise me that finish is a matte, softtouch feel, just like the HTC eris…

So back to CMF! nothing is new and saying that cmf is very important, that is an underline statement because like the video says people want a bigger screen. UX design is highly important and it is not stated in the video, so in my opinion they realize their android software does not fit with the user’s experience.

I will agree, in terms of user experience i prefer the motorola blur or the HTC modify software versions.

Will google allow the different companies to modify and customize experiences of their android? I doubt it.

Is that the direction of smartphone? yes.

Will it overcome the apple iphone? doubt it.

Why? cause the market is still too unpredictable, since the android software changes like every 6 months. Think about, why would LG, samsung, htc, motorola, or sony erisson want to waste time after time making customized software bundles with android and then having to redo it for newer versions? that does not help with profits.  It is very funny. catch-22!

children’s room design

I tagged this into my blog, cause this is an architectural design from Israel. not everyday you see something modern and neat looking.

The uterus project was designed for children with special needs, whom took part in the design process of The Biological model called uterus in which the embryo grows and develops inspired the design of the kid’s room and living area, while the kids are the embryo and the surrounding area is the uterus creating a living area that prompts the involvement of the children.

Living walls!

Architectural elements such as windows or spaces were distorted and re-projected on the façade. The result is a completely new spatial perception of the architecture and the direct environment.

Design for Behaviour Change: The Design with Intent Toolkit v. 0.9

The design patterns

The Design with Intent Toolkit aims to help designers faced with ‘design for behaviour change’ briefs. The poster* features 12 design patterns which recur across design fields (interaction, products, architecture), and there are also 35 more detailed here on the website. Some of the names will be unfamiliar, but we hope the patterns and examples will be understandable, and inspire your own concepts.

Think about how you might apply the ideas to your brief, and what could work given what you know about the problem. If you get stuck, try combining ideas from different patterns: many real examples can be thought of as using two or more patterns.

The Spectrum of User Experience

Okay, really i am not an expert in the field of UX design and many really have better grasp of what user experience design is about.

In the end, my simple explanation: it is about you the person doing an action with an object. We the “designers” analyze these events.

(and i have to say designer is not the right jargon for this terminology because today everyone associated with that word designer as someone who is artistic – or can draw! which is not really the case. engineers, business, mathematicians, etc etc who cares/empathize with humanity are in a way the designers)

but i saw this several days ago and you really have to go to the flickr page of iA to see how they split this diagram into different conversations of all the roles people play in this process of user experience design. If gives clarity to what we do, but also allows to make better questions to wonder if this is what we are doing or how we should improve ourselves.
