graphic love documentary

quick explaination of how the internet was born, in a rough sense, but i like the interaction and play of the graphics through the vid.

cheaters! we are all cheaters!

so wonder why we cheat a little….

shift happens – did you know update

two years ago (maybe a bit more – time moves fast) the first original “did you know” was presented at the NorthEast IDSA conference held at RISD. But now this is updated for 2008. and it needs updating again cause i feel the shift in internet searching-networking (I am sure this economy is doing it)– cause never before has a community internet network like twitter has sky rocket in such speed. with young college graduates without jobs and the middle age losing jobs there is this mix of time – relearning – reflecting – reinventing – believe me, half of my friends on facebook are pushing the social network to the limits and it is kinda cool too.

Janitors and Lemonades

Never heard of Barry Schwartz, but then that is what makes TED great, gets you connected from young people to old people to spread their eyesight to other ideas and philosophy.

I like how he comments, “how did we left things happen…” to the procedure of stupid acts which spare you from thinking. so let yourself dive into the vid.

Siftables…..

I have heard of this these tiny computer blocks but never seen in action. Go and watch. I especially like the end where you can make music, it is a completely new approach or is it old? cause techniquely we are operating the device in the olde fashion way. I like the humor twist. enjoy.

Malcolm Gladwell talks about spaghetti sauce

years back i have read his book the tipping point. His sense of humor about this world and how we operate/maintain it is a great interest why i like reading his books. This TEDtalk vid is a great example about the meaning behind our values and the usual decisions we make when not aware of our own actions. I love user research but not in the traditional sense of focus groups and one on one interviews. They are too stagnant in the sense of trying to draw out valuable information quickly. There are ways to easily make your (the researcher/designer/business/WHO EVER RUNS IT) hypothesis deem feasible in the eyes of the ignorant.

so enjoy, i learn a bit about the food industry’s history from this.

Attention Please!

Today, and including the future our attention span is getting shorter and shorter. Scott pointed this out about political debates back in the 1800s and what it is like now. Also he points our cabablities to multi-tasking due to the development of technology, Except when it comes to sex…

Overall the video was film roughly and dull but he makes his point with his very short presentation about the time a presenter has to sell an idea or present a lecture.

Talk on education system

This is 16 minute talk by Sir Ken Robinson who talks about how children has vast amount of creativity and how the school system of today (20th century) destroys that gift to make a specific type of person to work in the industrial age. Please watch cause it is also funny too.
